SACKMAN: UNAPOLOGETIC, ADDITIVE-FREE WHISKY

Origins (2017–2021)

Sackman was born in 2017 as a brave, independent project centered around an unusual idea: making whisky in Madrid.
 
 In its early years, Sackman crafted its spirits as a nomad and independent bottler, leaning on collaborating distilleries like Destilerías Liber in Granada to fill its first casks of Spanish single malt.
 
 These were times of learning, experimentation, and risk. Without our own facilities, the team poured every effort into defining the Sackman character—a whisky made the traditional way, but with a Madrilenian soul.
 
 During this stage, the first 200-liter casks were filled, always betting on high-quality wood (bourbon, sherry, brandy, carcavelos), which laid the foundation for the brand's identity.

The Distillery Opening (2022)

In 2022, Sackman took a decisive step by opening its urban distillery in Valdemoro (Madrid).
 
 For the first time, the project had a home of its own: a space designed not just for production, but to open its doors to the public, featuring a restaurant and cocktail bar (Sackman Space) and guided tours.
 
 A handmade 1,000-liter Portuguese pot still and a 250-liter brewhouse were installed, allowing us to consolidate the milling, mashing, fermentation, and distillation processes in-house. We left our nomad days behind and became a distillery with its own roots.

The Process Today

Today, Sackman produces whisky using a method that combines tradition with an obsession for detail:
 - Small-batch mashing, carefully controlled to ensure consistency and a unique character.
 - Long fermentations, allowing us to extract maximum aromatic complexity.
 - Distillation in a 1,000-liter copper pot still, with precise cuts that preserve the elegance of the new make spirit.
 - Initial maturation in ex-bourbon casks, bringing sweet and balanced notes to the young spirit.

- With a distinctive character: we use peated malt.
 
 This commitment to quality has been internationally recognized: Sackman won the Silver Medal at the World Whiskies Awards for the world's best new make.

The Philosophy

Since its inception, Sackman has been driven by one clear idea: turning fear into fuel.
 
 The name—Sackman, the "Boogeyman"—connects with the universal figure of childhood fear. But instead of running from it, the brand embraces it: fear is what drives us to take risks, to innovate, and to create what seemed impossible.
 
 Today, Sackman is more than just a whisky: it is a symbol of irreverence, authenticity, and bravery, born in Madrid with a global ambition.
